Metazoans are Heterotrophic

For all the bird’s misgiving,
  From all the beaux esprits,
We thank on this Thanksgiving
  The heavenly emcee
That turkeys spring eternal,
That corn grows from the kernel,
That death, the gate nocturnal,
  Locks with a vernal key.
