nightmare job

Somebody wrote “No matter what position they transfer me to, I end up with a nightmare job within two months. Everyone else seems to have time to watch YouTube videos all day long.”

You make it sound like the problem is that you are showing excessive competence and zeal. Working hard is accepted in a well-managed organization, but I can only gather that in the other kind it risks getting you in trouble. The opposite approach is to pretend that you are a prisoner in a slave labor camp. If you do all the work you are mandated to, it will kill you, so you have no choice but to look for ways to cheat the system.

Perhaps there is some middle ground?
