Why work for a living? The world is awash in free data. Banks lose unencrypted backup tapes, credit card processors store information that they’ve promised to delete—then lose it, even the credit card companies don’t bother to verify that their outsourced services are secure. We have entered the age of personal empowerment: You can be anyone. If only I had looked at Nigeria, the world’s first modern economy, and realized it earlier!
