10 September 2005 - Tokyo

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Pshaw, New Orleans faces trivial risks. Look at Tokyo, that city is subject to earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, it’s near a volcano, and it is regularly attacked by giant rubber monsters. In fact, it’s actually good news to those of us facing an increasingly uncertain world. Property values are directly proportional to hazard.

clue:

Some estimates say that a major earthquake in the Tokyo area, like the one in 1923, could cause over one trillion dollars (count the zeros carefully, it’s $1,000,000,000,000) damage, enough to result in a worldwide recession. It will happen someday.
