In the United States, customer service is traditionally understood to mean serving the customer, medium rare, with barbecue sauce, after a dessert of sweet promises. Unfortunately, serving dessert before the main course has created some difficulties, and companies today have begun to rely on euphemisms rather than direct language. For example, they say “customer care” rather than “customer farming”.
