Science is how things work and what things there are, or as Rutherford said, physics and—though he neglected to mention that it was equally important—stamp collecting. I prefer to call it geography. All useful human endeavor other than science is engineering. If you tease your nephew for fun, because fun is a human necessity, that’s a form of engineering.
