Crossover is an important form of chromosomal recombination; it can lead to evolutionary innovations. Consider: Hot is the opposite of cold, and warm is the opposite of cool, but hot is good and lukewarm is bad, while cool is good and cold is bad. Weather is bad, since it brings us warm fronts and cold fronts, while a love affair is always good, since it may be hot or cooling. Will we see a new species of language?
