Decades ago, when political polarization was decreasing, political scientists (you know it’s a science from the name) found that democracy causes people to agree more with each other over time, and they proved it by demonstrating the mechanism. Today, with polarization high and increasing, they’ve found mechanisms causing that too. It’s a proof by demonstration of the first law of history, which is that, though what will happen is uncertain, everything that has happened was inevitable.
