In information security, the range of places where the adversary can try to break in is called the attack surface. Now look at a brain, folded up to allow the largest possible attack surface. That is why fake news has been practiced since the invention of falsity. We could counteract it by teaching critical thinking, instead of what we do now, calling it critical thinking when we teach obedience to authority.
