Machines are held to a higher standard than humans. A human driver has to be grossly negligent before they are taken off the road; a self-driving car's rare individual accidents raise alarm. Humans struggle to know their own consensus truth; chatbots are blamed if they come out with the odd factoid. If we thought crummy robots were cool, we'd be OK, but with high standards... yeah, humans are getting replaced.
