Troublesome clothing signals high status. The Roman toga, the Elizabethan ruff, the nineteenth century crinoline, and the contemporary suit and tie say "I can afford to put up with this codswallop." But look, all but the poorest can afford to wear a tie. Do you smell the opportunity? You'll have it made if you invent something cool that can be put on quickly, but only with a team of servants.
