5 July 2023 - idea

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

What is an idea? Whatever it is, it can only exist in the context of other ideas, right? Otherwise it has no meaning. Therefore one idea by itself is nothing, and therefore the sum of all ideas is nothing.

clue:

It's a "no bootstrapping" argument, somewhat related to Zeno's paradoxes. You may be sure it's wrong, but how do you bootstrap the network of ideas? The classic answers are perception and/or innate knowledge, but that only pushes the problem back a level. If ideas evolved, then how?

give me a clue so sweet and true
