To restore the ozone layer, all we need do is transport Mexico City or Los Angeles to the stratosphere.

A lot of people seem to have come up with this idea. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t work. First, the cities don’t have remotely enough ozone for the whole world, and second, cars don’t work in the stratosphere, so we couldn’t generate enough.
