6 June 1998 - slam ads

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Humor is nearly as competitive a biz as politics. So why is it that only politicians run slam ads? Why is it so bad for me to make fun of other humorists? You know, I’d be going great guns if I could steal one percent of the audience of Jay Leno (have you heard the one about the staff of professional gag writers?) or Dave Barry (motto: “I have a motto for everyone”).

And what better way to steal an audience than with insults?
