17 January 2004 - hazard camera
< yesterday --
tomorrow >
A clear view of your wheels on the ground, small indistinct
hazards in the middle distance, and on the horizon a great
featureless glow of promise: One picture represents the
whole spectrum of responses to the Bush space program. We
humans are like the rover on Mars, we make our own decisions
from the narrow circle we can see with the hazard avoidance
camera—but for some reason we don’t come with a science camera.
