15 May 2004 - broccoli of fate
< yesterday --

Billions of years of organic evolution, and look what has
happened: We no longer enjoy the simple pleasures of
metabolizing hydrogen sulfide. Instead, we have the theory
of relativity, which few understand, and atonal music,
which few enjoy. Yet today, as never before, the broccoli
of fate simmers in the delicate sauce of uninterpretable
dreams. Progress turns energy into choices, and it is
up to us to understand them and to like them.
