Technique: Leak the bad news one whiff at a time, so that
the public gets used to it, like the air in Los Angeles. Torture
at Abu Ghraib? Ah, well, a few rotten apples, but the rest of
the barrel is tasty as can be, except for one new exception
every week. This Technique remains widespread, despite the
popular employment of a simple, effective Countermeasure.
Countermeasure: Check the news no more than once a month.
