The Obvious Choice

Candles are wicked, and incandescent lights, as you can tell from the name, are really fragrance-free candles in disguise. But fluorescent lights are green.

The eye adapts so well that most people don’t notice the greenness of fluorescent lighting. You can see it clearly in the windows of a building at night. It’s from a strong green line in the spectrum of mercury, so they’re not green in the environmental sense....
