21 November 2004 - expendable

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

In a tribe, the number of kids that can be born into the tribe depends on the number of women. There only needs to be one man—he’ll work hard enough. Men are expendable, which is why they go off to fight the wars. In an ironic side effect, men learn violence and control, and use this knowledge to increase their influence in society.

Being expendable makes you more important. Ask the Secret Service. Today, we are beginning to see soldiers as no longer expendable, and are designing machines to take their places. That is why the human species is doomed.
