New Formalist Manifesto, First Draft

We are neoformalists,
Totally monotonous.
We read a book on how to scan
In the prehistoric time,
Programmed our computers and
Checked the answers line by line.
We are so creative, man.
You know because we used a rhyme.
Totally monotonous,
We are neoformalists.

clue:

The New Formalist movement, which I do not consider myself part of, advocates going back to rhyme and meter in poetry. (I advocate not leaving in the first place.) Oddly, although the movement has been around for decades, many New Formalists haven’t figured out how to work their tools.

give me a clue so sweet and true
