Vision is a superficial sense. It only shows you the surfaces of objects—except transparent objects, where it shows you all. You see everything about the window and only a glimpse of the scene beyond. But where do we send our attention? That’s why it’s useless to build transparent institutions. We’ll overlook whatever is not superficial.
