Recklessness is sociobiologically backward. Teenagers, who mostly haven’t had kids yet, try crazy new ideas and sometimes splash their way out of the gene pool. If Darwin had been right, it would be old folk with grown kids who take risks to ensure the prosperity of their line by inventing the rocket-propelled skateboard. But it’s not too late to correct Darwin’s error. We’re moving in the right direction by treating teenagers more and more as if they were small children. All that’s left is to bring back the real meaning of the Boomer generation.
