Consider cell phone radiation. Theory suggests that it cannot be dangerous, and most experts find little evidence of danger in practice. And it’s unquestionable that any risk is slight. Still, it’s called “radiation” and a vocal minority is scared enough to convince some politicians to act. But all the while, and this is the important part, most people hold their phones to their ears with never a second thought.
In short, cell phones are nearly the same as nuclear power plants. Nuclear power would be a surefire success if only next-generation reactors were redesigned to be held next to the ear.
