That latest images from the Dawn spacecraft make clear what the white spots on Ceres are: Somebody lost the top scoop of a giant ice cream cone, and it bounced once before splatting. It’s an important clue. It means that the aliens are sort of like us, fun-loving and clumsy, and they’re only staying in hiding because otherwise the paperwork would be a drag. Sound the all clear!
