Another Safety Rule To Ignore

Humans have trouble following basic rules to minimize careless harm, like “don’t spill your drink in the computer” or “don’t write fancy software to cheat on car emissions tests.” That is exactly why we cannot allow space colonization. Evolution will work; space people, who die after one big mistake, will soon outcompete Earthlings who can escape a fire by stepping out into the fresh air, or escape a scandal by getting fired.

When selective pressure is strong, evolution can change things in a few generations.
