“Habitable” has the same quirk as “flammable”: “Habitable” and “inhabitable” mean the same. I think it is a clue to the human relationship with our ancient technology of fire: We can live anywhere because we can always find something to burn. If there is nothing but water, we can split it up and burn it back to water again.
