To understand economics, first we need to understand economists. Let’s distinguish between policy economists whose opinions and value flow from ideology, and commercial or practical economists who may sometimes provide value by being right, but only on narrow matters. With this rough framework, we can conclude that, since economists have no economic incentive to understand economics as a whole, there is no starting point and we will be forever confused.
