“He”, “she”, “it” or “they”—individuals are starting to want to mix and mismatch their own pronouns. But the reactions I see are so conservative, people are always wanting to color inside the lines, to think inside the box, to keep their chemistry inside the cell membrane. I contain a carboxyl group—rather a lot of them, in fact. From now on, my pronoun is “carboxylic”.
