Scientists and journalists are similar. Both collect data and publish parts that their readers may be interested in. Houthis claim to have launched a drone strike from Yemen against a Saudi oil facility. The map shows that, if true, it was a long range strike. The satellite images show that the strike was extremely precise. Is the claim true? Did rough-and-ready militia in a poor country really have the material, skill, and data to carry out a long range precision strike with 17 known kabooms at the end, or did they have outside help? The difference is that scientists draw tentative conclusions and call for more study, while journalists are already paid and refuse to draw any conclusion.
