Part of good political leadership is bending the public to your will. Putin and Xi practice it brutally, but it doesn't have to be brutal. In democracies, pols have a weak grasp of the art and spend most of their effort on another prong of good leadership, bending themselves to the public will. But there is hope. Donald Trump is showing us all how to become an opinion leader by lying about disaster. Though he's brutal.
