AI is superhuman in many ways. It can translate instantly between any
two languages. It can do a committee's worth of analysis in minutes and
report the results in seconds. It can create unimaginative porn images
by the gigabyte--all the information scutwork that humans demand but are
slow to accomplish. On the other hand, humans are superAI too. We have a
broader understanding of cause and effect. We naturally come up with
creative ideas. We can say "I don't know." We can laugh at the hilarious
"hallucinations" that AI produces when it doesn't know, or at least we
can when we aren't too lazy to check the results.
With complementary skills, two heads are better than one. We need AI to
do the work, and humans to accept it without looking.
