other changes to Overkill

Overkill AIIDE 2016 is not Overkill 2015 plus Q-learning. Overkill is extensively updated. Scanning quickly through the diffs, I spotted changes affecting:

  • pathfinding
  • influence mapping
  • handling of enemy cloaked units
  • reactions to enemy flying units
  • choke finding
  • scouting
  • assignment of squads to targets (I think)
  • behavior of irradiated units
  • behavior of overlords
  • prioritization of targets to attack
  • static defense, both ground and air
  • reactions to enemy bunkers and cannons

My list is not complete. I really want to see some games!

Next: Overkill wrapup.

Sijia Xu wrote to me that he/she plans to get into the discussion on the blog (yay), but is too busy to submit a version to SSCAIT (oh well).

That's a shame! I really wanted to see his new version playing on SSCAIT. How can one be that busy for a submit operation that only takes a minute? Couldn't we submit it for him? :P

Jay Scott on :

Sure, anyone who can compile it could submit it. It would be polite to ask permission first. :-) I think Sijia Xu is unhappy with the AIIDE 2016 results and wants to make some progress on the to-do list first, and that’s what there is no time for.
