Wuli has a repository

Wuli was “updated” on 1 March, but only the description was changed to point to the github repository. The repository has a last update date in 2016 and the bot binary on SSCAIT is the 2016 version (I did a bytewise comparison against my archived version to make sure).

I thought Wuli really had been updated, because Steamhammer has lost a few games against Wuli lately—despite having learned that Wuli is a zealot rusher and playing a counter. In local testing, Steamhammer scores over 90% against Wuli, so I can’t explain the losses except as a run of bad luck.

Still next: Adapting to maps.

Maybe you should play a safer counter like 9hatch with sunkens... ;) In my local testing Steamhammer has a loosing record vs WuliBot even if SH uses the configured counter. As I have mentioned, your Over10Hatch is not really safe from zealot rushers. The 2nd hatch is too late.

Really? If so, then either I mistested, or else I introduced a bug afterward. I should test again. Getting the second hatchery faster does not seem helpful to me against Wuli, which doesn’t send its zealots until it has 4. A pro is comfortable defending 9-9 gate with either overpool or 12 hatchery, which bots so far can’t do at all. The real weaknesses are in micro and decision making, not in the build order.

I have seen Microwave beat Wuli with a 9Pool and a quick 2nd hatchery, but not reliable, about 2:1 in favor of Microwave. 9Hatch, 10Hatch and 11Hatch (like Marian Devecka) with two sunkens in build order works. But 10Hatch and 11Hatch get the 2nd hatchery up too late to get the both sunkens up against a 9-9 Gate like UAB does, where the opponent does not wait until it has 4 zealots.

Just watched a Steamhammer - WuliBot game... Steamhammer only had 1 sunken and 6 zerglings ready when WuliBot's 4 zealots arrived in the natural, which was not enough. ;)

Jay Scott on :

8 zerglings, but you are right. The game was on Incubus in positions with a short rush distance, and it doesn’t know how to adapt its opening. Not ready for the worst case after all. But I did just make a post about adapting to the maps....

Jay Scott on :

Oops, the map is Icarus, of course not Incubus.
