1 January 2001 - turn of the millennium

Humans are a species so stupid that they argue vehemently over whether the turn of the millennium is when the digits roll over or when the years have rolled by. An intelligent observer can only be amused by their inability to grasp the opportunity, offered by their own inept calendar design, to party twice.
