U.S. says: So, can we use your bases to fight Iraq?
U.S. thinks: We always get what we want. For you, lots of bribery and just a nudge of bullying.
Turkey says: Well, we need to think about it... and think... and think... and think... ooh, nice dollars, just one final check.... Yes! Wait, we’re confused.... No!
Turkey thinks: Democracy in action, they can’t complain about that.
U.S. says: Whuhuh? Oh right, no problem, we’ll work around it.
U.S. thinks: Something must be done about this democracy nonsense.
