It’s a textbook case of the textbooks not being the case. Japan thinks “everybody does it” is a good defense, when in fact it’s offensive. The problem is that history is politicized in every country, and the solution is to take history education out of the hands of committees and democratize it. Let the kids vote on what they believe happened, it will be at least as accurate.
