How to Write a Novel, Lesson One

Now that National Novel Writing Month is two-thirds over, some of you may be looking for tips on how to get started. The first sentence is critical, and you must tap your deepest poetic instincts to forge it into a memorable kind of thingy. A touch of old-fashioned language can help:

“Though I clave her heart into twain, yet she cleft unto me like to the clinging cloy of two cloves.”
