15 March 2010 - Daylight Saving Time

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

It Follows from the Analemma

As Americans celebrate the emergence of Daylight Saving Time with the ancient traditional traffic accident emergencies, we must remain vigilant against complacency. Although such domains as language, law, and large systems engineering were long since kicked beyond the goalposts of human comprehension, the systems of time measurement, despite strenuous efforts with calendars and leap seconds, continue to be frustratingly understandable. Thus I call on wonks of every nation to propose optimized adjustment schedules; if at all possible, the length of the day should be fine-tuned hourly. Now get out there and fight! Score one for Team Humanity!
