Every day I check: Did the newspaper print the Dow Jones Industrial Average again? So far they always have, and I tell myself, “time to buckle down and improve financial education.” But there is another school of thought. The Dow might make sense again if we threw all the computers away.

When the Dow was invented in the 19th century, it had to be kept simple so it was easy to calculate.
