Learning is a kind of surprise. If you weren’t surprised, you already knew it. Sometimes a surprise teaches you something important, like “Oh, there wasn’t enough time to brake.” If you’re good at it, you arrange to be surprised in a way that will teach you a lasting lesson, such as how to ignore upcoming problems.
