They say that the newspaper industry is in trouble, so let’s look at a newspaper. I see, the headlines seem to fall into several categories. There’s “Major Disaster Befalls People You Don’t Know”, there’s “Team X Beats Team Y” that you already have on your phone, there’s “Facebook Addresses Privacy Issues” and “North Korea Changes Tack” that have repeated for years, there’s followup “Tunisia Builds Democratic Institutions” on stories you’d forgotten and there’s misinformation on topics you already know, like “Fear Global Warming!” or “What Global Warming?” Yep, the newspaper industry is in trouble.
