12 December 2012 - absolute truth 2

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Pointless: I can prove that absolute truth exists.
Smart: Not again.
Pointless: If it didn’t, then that would be an absolute truth in itself.
Smart: Your proof is circular. Proof by contradiction depends on the Law of the Excluded Middle, which amounts to the assumption that absolute truth exists.
Pointless: Oh yeah? Well then, how can you prove anything if you’re not allowed to use a proof?
Smart: How can you prove anything if the world happens to be one that doesn’t allow proofs?
Pointless: That’s crazy!
Weird: Yes, it’s fun!
