Due to the demographic transition, the age structure of populations is inverting—if you’re paying attention, that should make your eyes go wide, because you know that a population inversion is what you need for a laser. The borders are partially transparent, international relations provide pumping energy... everything is there. In fact, we can see after the latest election that Japan is already going off, emitting an intense narrow beam of “Hey you kids, get off of my lawn!” in just the direction expected from its shape. What will happen when Europe goes off?
