After middle age you thought I’d make a joke about China, but I won’t because “middle kingdom” is a polite mistranslation. More precise would be “central kingdom”, and every country is central and names itself, even Czechia. It is like the disbelief that AlphaGo could defeat Lee Sedol, another manifestation of the usual human exceptionalism.
