12 May 2016 - artificial stone

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Returning to the stream I had cleaned two weeks earlier, I looked down from a footbridge at a tiny island. Hey, where did that length of rusty pipe come from? I couldn’t have missed it—it couldn’t have washed downstream.... Then I counted the larger rocks. Of 42 chunks of mineral, 8 were brick or concrete or asphalt, and a few more were probably dressed local stone from some former wall. Whew, the archeologists will be OK after all.

clue:

I really couldn’t have missed it. I verified my work from the same bridge. There was heavy rain, though.

give me a clue so sweet and true
