27 September 2016 - lick

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Observation: “Lick” is a simple, unambiguous word with only one basic meaning.

Example: Back in the old days, when “it doesn’t make a lick of sense” still made a lick of sense, bears licked their cubs into shape, or if they could not, joined them.

Exercise: Now do this with an ambiguous word.
