29 December 2016 - Christmas spirit

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Now that Christmas is over (’tis the season of social obligation), consider: Does the celebration make sense? First, you find a tree that’s in good shape, and you cut it down. Then you trim it, which for some reason involves adding rather than removing. Finally, before the formerly healthy tree drops too many needles all over the house, you throw it to the curb like an unwanted in-law. Maybe the modern spirit of Christmas lies in pretending that change is no faster than before.
