If you think space colonization is easy, consider: We haven’t colonized the oceans. The resources of the sea are close and familiar, and we know how to exploit them, but despite utopian plans, nobody lives permanently on the ocean except for slaves kept on illegal fishing vessels. It doesn’t make economic sense, and starry-eyed idealism cannot raise funds on that scale even if you are John F. Kennedy.
