Every bit of land is either eroding away, or else being slowly buried under bits that eroded away from somewhere else. Cities, built with foresight, have buildings and stuff that catch passing debris, and tend toward being buried, as it were in an ark to bring remnants of the past to archeologists. Moral: If you want to be understood in the future, bury your dead.
