Copper corrodes to green (“verdigris”). Silver corrodes to black (“tarnish”). Verdict: Corrosion creates a complementary color. Thus when dark people left Africa, they slowly corroded to pale people who match the northern wastes. Yet the iron oxide sees the iron as impure.
